'Terminator Genisys' plot, cast: four new international trailers show more of Arnold Schwarzenegger in iconic role

It looks like marketing efforts for the upcoming 'Teminator Genisys' are picking up steam. Following a stunning reveal in the most recent trailer for the film, four new international 'Genisys' trailers were released online this past weekend, giving viewers a deeper glimpse into the big-budget spectacle that hopes to recapture the magic from past Terminator films.

The last movie in the franchise, 'Terminator Salvation', was the first in the franchise that did not include lead actor Arnold Schwarzenegger. The film leaned heavily on stars Christian Bale and Sam Worthington to carry the load, but their efforts were not enough as the film grossed a disappointing $371 million worldwide against an over $200 million budget.

Still, there is renewed hope for the latest film 'Genisys' as it once again features Schwarzenegger in one of his iconic roles as the Terminator. Schwarzenegger himself is looking to rebound following a string of lackluster movie offerings after finishing his term as Governor of California. His last Terminator film 'Rise of the Machines' scored a respectable $433 million worldwide and that number should be a solid starting point for 'Genisys'. Of course, given inflation, the 'Genisys' team is no doubt looking for bigger numbers than 'Rise' for the project to be considered a success.

Whatever the case, the international trailers have all feature increased screen time for their biggest asset in Schwarzenegger. The trailers all include action shots of the Old Terminator versus New Terminator fight that is sure to be a high point in the upcoming film. Also given ample screen time is the newly unveiled villain Jason Clarke, portraying John Connor, in a surprise role for the character. It should be interesting to see how things play out in the movie given the massive twist.

'Terminator Genisys' is scheduled for release on July 1 a few months from now.
