There's no denying that Tesla's electric cars are one of the most impressive vehicles available today. The 2015 Model S P85D was released last Oct. 2014, and has since then broken different driving records.

Last April, the 2015 Model S P85D earned the top spot during the AAA's fifth annual Green Car Guide.

Now, it has been revealed that the car has set a new benchmark, initially scoring 103 out of 100 in the Consumer Reports' road test. After adjusting the scoring system, the vehicle still scored an impressive 99/100.

The Model S P85D now earns the top spot, having toppled its sibling, the single-engine Model S, which also initially scored an impressive 110/100 back in 2013.

The 2015 Model S P85D proves to be a high-performance vehicle and future car releases will have a tough time beating its records.

According to Consumer Reports' auto editor, Mark Rechtin, vehicles that tend to score very high on performance usually lose points on efficiency. "That didn't happen here. In fact, it got more efficient. The car defies the laws of physics," Rechtin added.

The Model S P85D sports an 85-kilowatt-hour battery pack and when driving is in "Insane Mode," that car can go up to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. It's one of the fastest cars ever, able to reach speeds of 155 mph.

According to Tesla, one full charge of the vehicle can last up to 253 miles, and even further when driven in lower speeds. It also has quite a number of security features, including partial auto-pilot, forward-facing camera, radar, sensors and auto parking. The precise braking system also allows the car to brake very quickly.

The pricy $128,000 vehicle also has a ton of high-tech features. There is a 17-inch touchscreen control center that provides media, navigation, weather updates, 3G Internet and smartphone integration. There are also 12 strategically positioned speakers. The glass panoramic roof can also be opened with just a quick swipe on the LCD screen.

With such positive response for the Model S, many are already looking forward to Tesla's upcoming releases, the Model 3 and the Model X.

Tesla has been successful in not only producing environmentally conscious electric cars, but also in making them quite worthy competitors, and at times, even better than gasoline-powered cars.
