There is a lot of excitement after it was officially announced that "The 100" will get a fourth season. However, rumor has it that the post-apocalyptic heroes who the small screens embraced over the past three seasons won't be back this year.

The BitBag suggests that the series does not appear just yet on The CW's list of Fall 2016 TV series. This means fans may have to wait for a little bit longer as the show has not received an official air date either.

Other rumors also suggest that the show will probably pick a return similar to the air date that season three was given. Since the third installment aired on January 21 of this year, there is a possibility that the network will opt for a similar launch date.

Fans were very much shocked with some of the events that went down on the final episode of season three. While joy was felt when Lexa (Alicia Debnam-Carey) and Clarke (Eliza Taylor) confessed their feelings for each other, the ultimate shocker came when Lexa was killed.

According to Heavy, fans will have to wait for further announcements regarding the fourth installment to see if Clarke will ever recover gracefully after Lexa's untimely death. Other shows such as "The Flash," "Supergirl," and "The Vampire Diaries," will all return this fall. Unfortunately, it seems as if "The 100" won't make it to the list.

Den of Geek further notes that the previous season wasn't as consistent as the other two and some viewers have questioned where the story will lead the cast. On the other hand, the outlet points out that the show is still one of the most spectacular dramas that ever landed on television.

Despite the lack of official word from The CW, many fans believe that season four will probably make a mid-season debut. If this is true, the show will return with fewer episodes, making it one of the shorter shows compared to others on air.
