'The Affair' season 3 spoilers: Helen's cold war with Noah's sister continues

(Facebook/TheAffairShowtime)Noah's sister returns in "The Affair" season 3.

Helen (Maura Tierney) will cross paths once again with Noah's (Dominic West) spiteful sister in the upcoming season of "The Affair."

As per spoilers, Nina (Jennifer Esposito) is set to appear in several episodes of the new installment. Considering her not-so-good relationship with her brother's ex wife, the viewers can expect renewed tension between the two women. Nina has made no secret of the fact that she hated Helen for Noah. She could not even understand when he wanted to get full custody of their four kids after the divorce. Helen has tried to be more patient when around Nina. Will she reach the end of her tether this time around?

It has been previously teased that Helen's predicament will continue in season 3. She was the one driving the car that hit Scotty (Colin Donnell). Noah, in an attempt to make up for all the hurt he gave her, told her to be keep it a secret and let him take the fall for her mistake. Noah admitted that he killed Scotty in court and it is expected he will spend time in jail for it. Helen's guilt about what happened will continue to plague her. The question on whether she will admit the truth or not remains a mystery, though.

In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, Tierney revealed that the new season would kick-start three years after the court scene. Everyone has sort of moved on with his or her life. Noah has a new love interest, Juliette Le Gall (Irène Jacob). Helen also has a new boyfriend. She is now with Dr. Vic Ullah (Omar Metwally).

"When season 3 starts it's three years later, so quite a bit of time has passed. We go back and forth — sometimes it's a year-and-a-half later, sometimes it's three years later. So everyone has moved on quite a bit, and Helen's in a new relationship and Noah is sort of beginning a new relationship."

"The Affair" season 3 premieres Sunday, Nov. 20 at 10 p.m. EST on Showtime.
