"The Blacklist" season 3 closed with a big reveal that wasn't so unexpected after all: Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) is alive. Many fans had already speculated that she had faked her own death, but the finale only proved numerous suspicions. As for what the new season may bring, it has been said that Red's (James Spader) relationship with Liz will become clearer.

"What I do promise is that Alexander Kirk and his relationship to Liz will ultimately give us a far deeper understanding of Red's relationship to Liz in season 4," executive producer Jon Bokenkamp told Entertainment Weekly.

A huge chunk of the series has to do with Red's real relationship with Liz. And although many initially thought Red was her father, recent events may not agree with those suspicions. Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen) revealed to Liz, while he had her in captivity, that he is actually her father. Of course, fans can't be certain that Alexander is telling the truth.

However, Bokenkamp also shed some light on the big reveal. "I don't know why we wouldn't believe him. Red's said before that he's not Liz's father. This man shows up in her life and says he's her father. Liz should take him at his word," he said.

Other than that, the first part of the upcoming season will focus on the reaction to Liz's fake-out. It will also show Alexander's intentions for abducting Liz.

Bokenkamp also revealed to Deadline that Red "will be on fire" in the new season, especially since Liz is in danger. His history and relationship with her family will be explored further, which will have viewers in for a wild ride. Bokenkamp also teased that season 4 will be more intense than the previous one, saying, "You think this was a roller coaster ride? Just wait."

A lot of exciting things are in store for fans when the hit series returns. "The Blacklist" season 4 will premiere in the fall on NBC.
