'The Blacklist' season 4 spoilers: Liz unmasks true villain

(Facebook/ NBCBlacklist)The new big bad will be revealed soon in "The Blacklist" season 4.

Liz (Megan Boone) will have to pick who between Red (James Spader) and Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen) should be trusted in the upcoming season of "The Blacklist."

Last installment, it was revealed that Liz faked her own death to learn the truth about her mother, the Russian agent called Katarina Rostova. Later on, she found herself kidnapped by Kirk, who introduced himself as her father. According to him, he was Constantine and he has been keeping tabs on Liz ever since she was suspected by the FBI of committing treason. Kirk was trying to brainwash her that Red was truly the person she should be wary of.

Viewers may remember that Red and Liz had a falling-out when she discovered that he has been keeping a lot of secrets from her. From that day on, Liz has had difficulty trusting Red, even if he did save her life many times in the past.

For Liz, the challenge is to pick the person who she feels is worthy of her trust. Red and Kirk hate each other so it is only natural that they will paint a black picture of their nemesis to Liz.

Recently, however, executive producer John Eisendrath's interview with Entertainment Weekly hinted that Kirk might not be the new big bad to watch out for in season 4.

"That's definitely a cliffhanger for next year. It's definitely an, 'Oh my God, who really is this person, what's his agenda and what is going to happen to Liz?' We're left with Red and everyone aware of the fact that Liz is alive, and she's also been abducted," the EP said. Red is convinced that Kirk is the culprit.

Meanwhile, in the event that Liz decides to put her trust on Red, she will probably have a hard time convincing him that she is not a spy working for Kirk. The Bitbag reports that Red will have major trust issues with Liz since she has been in close contact with his biggest adversary. The fact that she lied about her death should further influence him that she has been lying to him. Liz will have to work hard to make Red believe she is innocent of any suspicions against her.

"The Blacklist" season 4 will return on September 22, Thursday on NBC.
