'The Blacklist' season 4 spoilers, news: what's next after a core character's death?

(Facebook/The Blacklist)How will Mr. Kaplan's death affect Liz and the others moving forward in "The Blacklist" season 4?

The recently concluded episode two of "The Blacklist" season four leaves many questions unanswered, especially after Red shot Mr. Kaplan for the biggest betrayal ever. What's next?

To recap, Red (James Spader) has finally retrieved Liz (Megan Boone) from Alexander Kirk's (Ulrich Thomsen) hold and she is reunited with Tom (Ryan Eggold). However, baby Agnes is still nowhere in sight and it's unclear if she's safe but Entertainment Weekly suggests that Kirk may have escaped with the baby before the FBI arrived at the beautiful "home" of Liz as a young girl.

There were several notable points in "The Blacklist" season four episode two, especially after the shooting of Mr. Kaplan (Susan Blommaert). Red took Mr. Kaplan, the only person he has ever trusted for the longest time, to a deserted forest-like area where he made it clear that he no longer believes her.

It was a painful sight to see but what does it this mean for Liz and the others? The biggest cliffhanger was Mr. Kaplan's hand gripping a patch of grass which could have meant it was her final attempt to let off her angst over her untimely death... or it could also mean that she's alive and will return one day to execute vengeance on her long-time friend.

If Mr. Kaplan survives the ordeal, Red has only added one more name to the list of people who are out to get him. But what incident or which person will be strong and courageous enough to bump into Red's plans and ultimately destroy him? Will Red fall in "The Blacklist" season four if Mr. Kaplan returns and joins forces with Kirk?

Meanwhile, another scene that continues to bother some viewers was that of Kirk seemingly being treated by a nurse for some blood condition. Rumor has it that Kirk may have returned to Liz's life as he needs her help to cure whatever blood disease he has. It could be that Liz is Kirk's only key to healing - that is, if they are indeed blood-related.

What does the blood relation issue mean for baby Agnes? Now that Liz is safe in Red's hands, Kirk may still have the chance to live on and get cured through his "granddaughter." Does this mystery prove that Kirk is really Liz's father?

Find out what happens to the complicated stories of intertwined lives in "The Blacklist" season four, which airs every Thursday on NBC.
