Season 3 of "The Blacklist" ended with the reveal that Liz Keen (Megan Boone) is actually alive, but then again, was captured by this new character, Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen), who claims that he is Liz's father.

With Kirk making his claims, it's hard to know whether or not he should be trusted. Liz might even find herself confused by all this and she should be the one who will find it most difficult to trust the guy. Fans are now wondering if Kirk's intentions are genuine or if the finale only introduced the big bad for season 4.

Fortunately, "The Blacklist" showrunner John Eisendrath shared some hints about Kirk's character to Entertainment Weekly. When asked if Kirk is the new big bad, Eisendrath implied that it is possible. "

"That's definitely a cliffhanger for next year. It's definitely an, 'Oh my God, who really is this person, what's his agenda and what is going to happen to Liz?'" Considering that Red (James Spader) and everyone else know that Liz is still alive but has been kidnapped, it is easy to assume that Kirk is season 4's villain.

Whether or not Kirk will be the big bad next season, Liz will still have to decide carefully if she should trust him. She still needs to choose which side she will need to take – Red's or Kirk's. Red may have saved Liz's life countless times but his nature of always keeping secrets from her has made Liz decide not to trust him.

Both Kirk and Red hate each other's guts and it is expected that one will always put the other in a bad light. It appears that trust is one of the main themes of the upcoming season.

"The Blacklist" season 4 is expected to return to NBC on September 22 so fans should just stay tuned for more updates.
