'The Elder Scrolls 6' release date update: Is the game in the plans or not?

(Facebook / The Elder Scrolls Online)"The Elder Scrolls" is a popular and well-loved game series, but the rumored sixth installment seems to take some time before actual development.

Rumors about an upcoming "The Elder Scrolls 6" installation have been making the rounds for some time. Rumors continue to insist and persist, despite statements from the developer indicating it is not in the immediate plans.

During the last Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), players were disappointed when the long-rumored "The Elder Scrolls 6" was not included in Bethesda Game Studios' presentation. During the live stream, however, Bethesda executive Todd Howard addressed the talks saying "The Elder Scrolls 6" is like the elephant in the room in their frequent talks. He confirms that they are working on it, but also added, "You know, I have to be careful what I say, it's a very long way off."

He also added, "It is something that's going to take a lot of time, what we have in mind for that game, and we actually have two other large projects we're also doing that are bigger than everything we've done." He also went on to say that years from now, people will make sense of what he has said.

Howard's refusal to elaborate about the project may have also been his way to tell those who are waiting for "The Elder Scrolls 6" not to keep their hopes up as of the moment. When probed about the two large projects they are working on, he said, "I don't want to say yet, but people should know by now that the gap between hearing about it and it coming out, I like that to be really short."

Bethesda Marketing and PR Pete Hines has been getting a lot of inquiries on his Twitter account as well, and last month, he answered one question by tweeting, "I am not giving out any information about TES6 until we formally reveal it."

While it would serve players well not to think about "The Elder Scrolls 6" too much until it is formally announced, updates for "The Elder Scrolls V" have been constantly made.
