'The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition' release date, latest news: Game is not confirmed for Nintendo Switch?

(The Elder Scrolls website)"The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim" is the fifth installment in the title's franchise. A sixth game is anticipated to be released in 2017.

New footage from the special edition of "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" was released in a trailer. It showed a comparison of the game's graphics for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 as well as for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles. There is also a possibility that the title may not actually be released for the latest Nintendo offering, the Switch.

Based on the latest trailer that was released by developer Bethesda, it can be seen that the remastered version of "Skyrim" has improved a lot in terms of graphics. The promotional clip also highlighted how the environment looks more realistic and offers more defined lighting than the previous version of the game. Furthermore, snippets of the battles were shown in the clip, and it can be seen that the characters have more fluid movement since its frame rate, or frames per second (fps), was upgraded as well.

The upcoming title will still support mods for the PC platform, and the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will be experiencing the same feature too. It was also reported in GameSpot that the PC version can have the remastered version for free as long as they have the original game and its three downloadable content (DLC) packs. Aside from the other improvements of the title, gamers will be able to play it in 4K on the PlayStation 4 Pro soon.

In other related news, it is still not confirmed if "Skyrim" will also be supported for Nintendo Switch even though it was seen in the reveal trailer of the console. A spokesperson from Bethesda was able to talk to GamesIndustry, saying: "We're happy to have had the opportunity to collaborate with Nintendo on the video. While we are not confirming any specific titles at this time, we are pleased to announce our partnership with Nintendo and support of the Switch. We look forward to revealing specific games and details in the future."

The special edition of "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" has already reached "gold" status and this indicates that the game is already finished. It is anticipated to be released on Oct. 28 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
