'The Elder Scrolls 6' release date news: Is the game being developed

(The Elder Scrolls)Gamers are eagerly waiting for Bethesda's announcement regarding "The Elder Scrolls" franchise. While it was previously believed a sixth installment is to be announced, recent rumors suggest a remastered version of the latest release.

Talks about an upcoming "The Elder Scrolls VI" started after the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) last year when a Bethesda representative is said to have hinted that this year's E3 conference will include the announcement of the new game. It's E3 season once again, and while gamers wait for the conferences to happen, recent rumors suggest "The Elder Scrolls VI" is not happening soon.

Instead, talks about a remastered "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" are making the rounds. E3 2016 will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 14 to June 16; however, developers' conferences are scheduled to start earlier.

Bethesda's conference is scheduled tonight, June 12, at 10 p.m. ET and gamers will soon know what the company has in store. Since last year's event, no announcement has been made about the previously rumored "The Elder Scrolls VI" and gamers are beginning to believe more recent speculations about a remastered "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim."

The speculation may also be based on last year's event where Bethesda announced the same year release of its other popular game, "Fallout 4." E3 2015 was Bethesda's first time to participate and its first conference was considered a success. It started by showing a trailer of its other popular game franchise, "Fallout 4," and later on announcing the game's release in the same year. Next was an impressive demo of "Doom," which was released last month. "Dishonored 2" was also announced during the event, as well as a trailer of then newly released "Elder Scrolls Online." It closed the program with the demo of "Battlecry" and the announcement of its worldwide beta schedule in 2015.

Rumors about "The Elder Scrolls V" remastered and "The Elder Scrolls VI" are met with mixed reactions. While some believe it is too early for the fifth installation to undergo an upgrade, others are excited with the thought. Other players believe it is time for "The Elder Scrolls" to have another installment, while others feel the previous game still has room for improvement.
