'The Following' season 3 spoilers: Luke appears in flashbacks, hidden threat for Ryan team

Racy crime and mystery TV show "The Following" has certainly gathered disciples of its own, with keen fans counting down the days to March when season 3 hits the small screen. Teasers released of the upcoming season highlight more suspense, thrill and mysteries for fans and Ryan Hardy's team to decipher.

Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) and his team have to uncover a hidden threat that isn't at all obvious. Executive produce Jennifer Johnson compares the looming threat as a shark underwater, so fans may not be able to fully grasp the danger until a few episodes are aired. Additionally, this season is set to focus more on the characters of the show than previous seasons.

Ryan's life will be at the center of season three as his team explores the impending threat. As for Mark, whose role is essayed by actor Sam Underwood, the death of his brother will definitely lead to a drastic change in his character. The actor teased fans by saying, "Mark is going to come back in a whole new fashion. You'll find him in a very surprising location."

While Mark's brother, Luke, was killed last season, he will not be gone completely. Executive Producer Marcos Siega said that the character will return in future seasons in a series of flashbacks and will, to some extent, still influence certain character's decisions. Rumors circulating the Internet point out that the new threat will possible be played out by new cast member Michael Ealy.

Joe Carroll will be locked up and on death row in season three, according to Hollywood Reporter. Hardy is also set to face many threats, unlike previous seasons that saw him up against one bad guy and his mob of underlings. Season three will premiere on March 2, 2015 on Fox.
