Fans were left at the edge of their seats with the season 4 finale of "The Fosters." Now, fans are clamoring for more updates as to what will happen to Callie in season 5. Luckily, the show's executive producer, Peter Paige, shared some deets on the coming season.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Paige talked about how Callie's character (Maia Mitchell) is quick-witted enough. He also kind of hinted that she will get out of her current situation and added, "anything can happen."

To recall, Callie switched places with Christina in the previous season in hopes of helping her. However, she got caught in a very dangerous and life-changing situation. From there, Paige said that the setting where Callie is in will be explored in season 5.

In the previous season, Callie's only hope to survive was her phone, which was being tracked by Stef (Teri Polo's character). She tried to hide it in a bag. Unfortunately, Russell handed the bag to someone else in another car.

Because of that, it would be hard for Stef to find her in the upcoming season. She is now left with Russell and Diamond (Hope Olaide Wilson). The latter has a gun, by the way; hence, it would probably be even harder for Callie to escape.

Can Callie make it out in the next season? In a different interview with TV Line, Paige teased that she can, but it will hurt her emotionally. That said, maybe she will not be able to escape soon.

In addition, Paige revealed that fans will see more of Callie and Brandon (David Lambert) together in "The Fosters" season 5. He said that the two's storylines have become different. Thus, they feel like it is about time that they make Callie and Brandon's paths connect more.

"The Fosters" will return to screens for season 5 on July 11, Tuesday, at 7 p.m. EDT on Freeform.
