'The Good Wife' season 6 spoilers: Alicia forced to resign as state attorney; feelings may have reignited for Peter

"The Good Wife" may finally end Alicia's state attorney storyline as she will resign from her position in the upcoming episode. Fans watched in episode 19 as potential voter fraud was discovered in the recently concluded elections. This forced Alicia to hire a civil rights lawyer and work with Eli. However, it seems things will only get worse.

In episode 20, according to CaterMatt, Alicia will be forced to resign in the wake of a voter fraud scandal and campaign corruption exposure. She chose not to resign in the previous episode despite her party's insistence but it seems she will finally do as asked. This may be because the party wishes to replace her with another candidate.

Her resignation also marks the end of her problems with Peter. In fact, in the previous episode, it was clear that Peter supported her decision to refuse a resignation when the scandal threatened her state attorney position. He provided her comfort in an embrace and offered his shoulder to cry. Does this mean fans can expect them to get back together?

In a sneak peak video, Alicia is seen giving a press conference to announce her resignation and turning to Peter for advice on what to do next. She certainly faces an uncertain future after her resignation. What will Alicia do next?

Meanwhile, R.D. hires Diane and Cary to argue against two ultra-conservative lawyers for a test case involving mandatory minimum sentencing. Moreover, Kalinda Sharma's illegal move to save Cary may land her in jail or on the run, signalling her exit from the series.

TVLine reports that "The Good Wife" has roped in star Cush Jumbo of "Torchwood: Children of Earth" fame to play the role of an investigator in a yet to be announced role in season seven. CBS has not yet announced a season seven of the show, but with Jumbo possibly filling in Kalinda's shoes in season seven, it is safe to say Alicia Florrick's story will continue.

Episode 20 airs on Sunday, April 26 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
