Fans finally got a closer look at "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" game earlier this year and some gameplay details have even been revealed, but unfortunately, an exact release date remains unavailable.

At this point, there are only a few things currently known officially about the upcoming game's release.

First, Nintendo has already confirmed that the game will be released next year.

Nintendo also shared that "Breath of the Wild" will be calling both the Wii U and the NX console home and that it would be released at the same time for both platforms.

Beyond that, Nintendo has not shared any more specifics regarding the game's release.

Recently though, fans were able to learn about a more specific release window for the new game, thanks to a new report from MCV.

According to that report, new "Pokemon," "Super Mario" and "Zelda" games are expected to be released for the Nintendo NX within the first six months of that console being released.

With the NX already set for a March 2017 release, that would seem to suggest that fans can count on seeing "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" by September of next year at the latest.

That's about as defined a release window as fans can probably hope to hear about for now, though more details about the launch of both the new console and the new "Zelda" game may still be made available before the end of the year.

Upon being released, "Breath of the Wild" is expected to provide fans with the biggest "Zelda" game to date. The larger setting will also be packed with new Shrines of Trials as well as monsters new and old that players will have to overcome in battle.

More news about "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" should be made available in the near future.
