Season 1 of 'The Originals' has already been aired, and anticipation is building for the Season 2 premiere. According to reports, Season 2 will feature much of the Mikaelson family history, and the showrunners plan to execute this plot through flashbacks.

The "Vampire Diaries" spin-off focusing on the Mikaelson siblings gained a lot of viewers and acclaim during its first season. Klaus (played by actor Joseph Morgan) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) Mikaelson are the leads of The Originals, and Season 2 will shed light on their family history even more.

According to reports, flashbacks are to be expected once Season 2 begins, and it will be a nostalgic ride for both cast members and viewers.

The show's executive producer, Michael Narducci, spoke to TVLine and revealed that season 2 will be about "the sins of the past." With this, the producer went on to reveal that Klaus and Elijah's parents will both be featured in the next season.

"We're very much defined by our parents, but as we become adults, we begin to choose our own paths. Klaus is very much a product of his abusive father, and very much a product of his mother," Narducci said during the interview, as reported by WetPaint.

Narducci revealed that the next season will include story arcs of Klaus and Elijah right before they became vampires, with flashbacks to when Klaus was just a little boy.

Narducci further added that these scenes will "examine what his relationship was with his mother, and the sense of betrayal that he felt when she came back from the dead and judged him as an abomination."
