"The Originals" ended on a high note with the defeat of Dahlia but the Mikaelsons are weaker than ever thanks to Klaus. The vampire-werewolf hybrid did several violent and brutal things in season two and earning his siblings' forgiveness will be far from easy.

Season three kicks off six months after the events of season two's explosive finale, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Klaus is trying to desperately make amends and turn over a new leaf but no one's buying it. Elijah is still angry that he turned Hayley because of which Hope has been without a mother for the last six months.

Marcel takes control of the blood-suckers in New Orleans while Davina continues her plans to take down the Originals family. Rebecca, on the other hand, will attempt to resurrect Kol.

According to TVLine, three new faces will be seen on the hit supernatural show when it returns to the CW this October. Aurora is one of the new characters this season and is a sexy vampire with a dark side. Handsome Lucien will be entering New Orleans harboring a personal grudge against the Mikaelsons. He is a vampire.

The third character is Detective Will Kinney who is determined to bring justice to the town. He has no idea that vampires and werewolves are behind everything that goes around in New Orleans but will soon have some strong suspicions that something else lurks beneath the surface. Actor, Jason Dohring, has already been cast for this recurring role, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Season three's main theme will explore the sire lines and delve into the early days of the Mikaelsons after they turned. Executive producer, Michael Narducci, revealed "This is definitely the season about the sire lines. We are going to meet some of the people who, in their early days as vampires, Elijah, Klaus and Rebekah turned. We're going to see the first time someone was turned into a vampire."

Meanwhile, at Comic-Con, "The Originals" panel declined plans for a crossover episode with its parent show and teased Klaus' romance with multiple ladies, reports TVLine.

Season three premieres on Oct. 8, 2015.
