"The Vampire Diaries" will soon come to a close, but before fans cry out in angst and despair, there's good news on the way as showrunner Julie Plec revealed that she's "a thousand percent" for the idea that some of the origin show's characters could end up in "The Originals" season 4 and onward. 

Fans aren't really new to seeing crossovers between the two shows, though most of these instances have focused on the Klaroline affair. This time, it seems that there will be more than just Caroline (Candice King) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) interacting once more.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Plec was asked if there was a chance that Mystic Falls characters will move or show up at some point in New Orleans. To at least give viewers an idea of what production is planning, she said: "A thousand percent. One of my goals is to find really exciting and organic ways to combine the universe just a little bit... There are a lot of really wonderful people that I work with that I'd like to continue working with, so it's certainly not out of the question that we could find ways to integrate them to The Originals."

Just as hope was starting to die down on the possibility of seeing some of the "TVD" characters on "The Originals," Plec saved the day. The question is, how will this affect the current timeline and situation in the spinoff?

To recap, Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) struck Klaus with a pain-induced coma after he buried Papa Tunde's blade into the former New Orleans leader's heart. Freya (Riley Voelkel) somehow found a way to link her life and that of her siblings to Klaus so they all won't die due to Marcel's poisonous bite. However, this also means their lives will end too if Klaus gives up in his sleep.

Now, Klaus and Caroline have long decided to end what they have and Klaus found love in Cami's (Leah Pipes) arms, while Caroline is now with Stefan (Paul Wesley) in Mystic Falls. Klaus is single at this point while Caroline may or may not decide to leave Stefan.

Recent reports suggest that there is a huge chance Caroline will return to New Orleans, considering her ties with Klaus and the Mikaelsons. However, this will mean that she has to leave Stefan. Will Plec and the writers be able to pull off an acceptable end for the Steroline love story to open doors for Klaroline to come into fruition for the second time?
