'The Originals' season 4 premiere spoilers: Klaus to partially embrace his old monstrous ways

(Facebook/The Originals)How evil will Klaus be as he backslides to the monster that he was when "The Originals" returns for its season 4?

After it was announced that "The Originals" season 4 won't make it to the fall season premiere of shows, many fans expressed their disappointment on The CW's move to delay the return of the series. However, it turns out that the move of the network actually works on the advantage of "The Originals" as far as its storyline is concerned.

"When they shifted the air date, it actually gave us the freedom, weirdly, to shift the timeline in our favor so that we could have more time pass in 'The Originals' between seasons than 'The Vampire Diaries.' So we get to add an extra couple years on to our time lapse between seasons. It's actually a good thing. It's positive to not have to worry about being side by side," revealed "The Originals" and "The Vampire Diaries" executive producer Julie Plec to TVLine.

If "The Originals" season 4 will feature a time jump, fans can only wonder what would become of Klaus (Joseph Morgan). To the uninitiated, in the season 3 finale episode of "The Originals," Klaus was tried for the crimes he committed. As the crowd of vampires was cheering that the punishment that must be given to him should be worse than death, Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) stabbed him with a dagger that would cause him unimaginable pain as long as he lives.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly in May, "The Originals" showrunner Michael Narducci revealed that while Klaus will work on redeeming himself for his past wrongdoings, the events in the series' season finale will cause him to take some steps backward as he does penance.

With or without the time jump, though, fans of "The Originals" can rest assured that Klaus will work on bettering himself and will not fully embrace anew the old monster that he once was.

"I'm not saying that we're going to see Klaus backslide to his most terrible version, but I'm saying that threat exists, and I'm very curious to see who Klaus will be when we see him again," said Narducci.

How bad will Klaus become? Will he be a better or worse version of himself after "The Originals" time jump? Find out when "The Originals" returns for its season 4 next year.
