Producers of the long-running animated series, 'The Simpsons,' had been building up anticipation for the death of a "major character" in the latest episode. When the character was revealed however, fans took to social media to express their disappointment over the death of Krusty the Clown's father, Rabbi Krustofsky.

"#RIP Krusty's Dad, no one cares, let's move on! #TheSimpsons" one Twitter user, @TheBrianMo, wrote.

The Simpsons producer, Al Jean, hinted last April that there will be a death of a major character, and that the character is voiced by an actor who won an Emmy for his or her Simpson's work.

It became a huge guessing game for fans, as most voice talents of The Simpsons have won an Emmy award, including Nancy Cartwright, Julie Kavner, Hank Azaria, Dan Castellaneta, Harry Shearer, and Yeardley Smith.

True enough, Rabbi Krustofsky was voiced by Jackie Mason, who has indeed gained an Emmy for being part of The Simpsons. When asked by reporters last week, Jean revealed that some people have already guessed the character that will be killed.

"Some people have guessed it correctly, and some are really, really off." Jean told HollywoodLife.com.

"I thought it would be a little sneaky to say that the character had won an Emmy and the next thing I knew it was a huge, worldwide story," the producer added.

Fans were less than impressed on the revelation, even calling the episode "the worst."
