Episode 12 spoilers promise that there is abundant action and drama to keep fans interested, including the death of a cast member in Mystic Falls. The International Business Times reports that Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola) will have to bid adieu to her mother, Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre). Fans may recall that towards the end of the season 11, the good Sheriff drinks Caroline's blood after her daughter reports how it miraculously helped a cancer patient. However, the patient dies towards the end, which means the Sheriff will face her death in the upcoming episode.

In the promotional video, the Sheriff learns of the death of the male cancer patient and becomes aware she will die sooner rather than later. Stephan (Paul Wesley) consoles Caroline after she questions herself for feeding her mother vampire blood. Jo (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) tries to save Caroline's mother but the promotional video shows a lifeless Forbes.

But things aren't so grave and tinged with sadness at Mystic Falls. Delena fans should rejoice as a romantic kiss is set to take place on Thursday. Celebdirty Laundry reports that Joshua Parker (Christopher Cousins) makes a comeback as Liv (Penelope Mitchell) and Luke's (Chris Brochu) father in order to celebrate their birthday. They try to convince him to let Kai (Chris Wood) and Jo merge, so the ceremony may take place sooner than viewers expected.

Damon (Ian Somerhalder) concocts a risky plan during the ceremony but things quickly spiral out of control and one of the witch twins has to setup and take control. Will Kai finally be put to rest? What will happen during the merge ceremony? Tune into to CW on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 at 8 p.m. ET to find out.
