'The Vampire Diaries' season 8 episode 2 spoilers: Damon and Enzo target someone from Stefan's past

(The Vampire Diaries /Facebook)"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 airs every Friday at 8 p.m. on The CW.

Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo's (Michael Malarkey) next target could be a familiar face in the upcoming episode 2, titled "Today Will Be Different," of the eighth season of the American supernatural drama "The Vampire Diaries."

There is a possibility that Damon and Enzo's next target is someone whom Stefan (Paul Wesley) knows from his past. After learning about this, Stefan, Bonnie (Kat Graham), and Caroline (Candice King) decide to travel to North Carolina to look into the situation.

When they arrive in North Carolina, Bonnie decides to do something drastic as she wants to release Enzo from whatever spell or compelling force that currently chains him. Meanwhile, at the Armory, Alaric (Matt Davis) and Georgie (Allison Scagliotti) encounter a mysterious symbol that they suspect has a link to the supernatural force that has been controlling Damon and Enzo. Caroline, on the other hand, will receive a surprise from Stefan.

The promo trailer for "The Vampire Diaries" season 8's "Today Will Be Different" shows Damon and Enzo seemingly getting manipulated by new villain Sybil ("UnReal" alum Nathalie Kelley). When she tries to put Damon in what seems like hypnosis, his subconscious sees his past with Elena (Nina Dobrev).

In an interview with Access Hollywood, Malarkey said about Enzo and Damon, "They are basically having their minds controlled a little bit by this mysterious evil force and they don't really have a choice in the matter."

However, the actor revealed that his character Enzo is more reluctant to be being mind-controlled because he had been in more torturous situation than Stefan's brother. "Basically they are having to do these things and commit these unspeakable things. Whether they enjoy it or not is up to their personality traits, I guess," he added.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 airs every Friday at 8 p.m. on The CW.
