Damon's (Ian Somerhalder) next target is one of Stefan's (Paul Wesley) old friends in the upcoming episode of "The Vampire Diaries."

In the episode titled "Today Will Be Different," the synopsis (as per CarterMatt) reveals that Stefan, Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Caroline (Candice King) are heading to North Carolina to stop Damon and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) from killing more people. It looks like the siren, Sybil (Nathalie Kelley), will order her minions to kill one of Stefan's old acquaintances. In their attempt to stop more bloodshed, Stefan and the girls will hasten to the South.

There, Bonnie will reportedly take "drastic measures" to free her boyfriend from Sybil's control. During the premiere, Enzo has shown that he was not too far gone and that he wanted Bonnie to save him. Damon, on the other hand, appeared to have completely embraced the dark side.

In a past interview, Malarkey said that his character would struggle more than the Salvatore vampire when the ancient creature attempts to possess them.

"We will find out why and what they're driven by and it's something to do with this new supreme evil that has been lurking in the vault, that has escaped the vault. Enzo, however, is kind of grappling with this a bit more, he's fighting it a bit more than Damon and how we start the season is seeing the whole relationship with Damon and Enzo and this creature, you can call it," the actor said.

Meanwhile, Alaric (Matt Davis) and his new friend, Georgie (guest star Allison Scagliotti), will find something at the Armory. It looks like they have stumbled on the key to defeat Sybil and free Damon and Enzo from her clutches. Alaric will discover a mysterious symbol that may be connected to the siren. Will this be the leverage that they have been praying for to end Sybil's reign of terror?

"The Vampire Diaries" airs Fridays at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
