'The Vampire Diaries' season 8 spoilers, news, rumors: twins to unlock the secret towards ending Sybil's evil operations?

(Facebook/The Vampire Diaries)Will the Alaric and Caroline's twins solve the mystery of Sybil in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8?

Sybil is just getting started in her plan to spread her evil ways, and in episode 2 of "The Vampire Diaries," she will further push forward in getting Damon and Enzo to do what she desires.

Nathalie Kelley's Sybil was introduced in the premiere episode of the franchise's final season, and though not much is known about her roots and reasons yet, it is expected that she will continue to ignite evil in Mystic Falls.

However, her reign may not be too long as recent reports suggest that Caroline (Candice King) and Alaric's (Matthew Davis) twins may be the key to unlocking the mystery of how to end Sybil's wickedness.

Josie (Lily Rose Mumford) and Elizabeth (Tierney Mumford) are still very young, but in the previous installment, the two were able to open the vault where Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) were in. Will they be able to tell their parents how Sybil can be defeated and what they can do to keep themselves safe from potentially being possessed by this new evil?

Alaric and Georgie (Allison Scagliotti) may also have unraveled some bits about Sybil's beginnings, and though it has yet to be revealed if the symbol they found could potentially take the villain down, fans should expect more revelations in the upcoming episode titled "Today Will Be Different."

Meanwhile, Paul Wesley, who plays the role of Stefan in the series, recently spoke with TVLine on the show's Atlanta set, explaining the reasons for Sybil's presence in Mystic Falls. "This season is really about... the conclusion of what evil sins must these characters pay their dues for," Wesley said.

While Wesley's explanation for Sybil's introduction may be too deep and hard to understand, fans can only wait for more of her secrets to be peeled away slowly as "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 rolls on.

As for Nina Dobrev's Elena, it is unclear if the character will appear in person for the show's final season run. Though it was already shared that there were discussions over the past months to get her on board, there is no news if the showrunners and the actress were able to strike a deal.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 episode 2 airs Friday, Oct. 28, 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
