Three more months and The CW's supernatural series "The Vampire Diaries" returns for an eighth season. New reports have surfaced that someone might come between Caroline (Candice King) and Stefan (Paul Wesley). Meanwhile, show's boss shared a few details about the upcoming season.

According to TV Guide, there is a new powerful woman coming down to Mystic Falls who has her eyes set on Stefan. Despite the happy reunion of Stefan and Caroline in last season's finale, this woman may cause trouble for the couple. She is known to get whatever she wants at all cost. However, knowing that Stefan is the loyal type, he will surely not let anyone ruin what he and Caroline has already built as a couple.

Executive producer Julie Plec has already hinted about the trouble in "Steroline's" relationship in a previous interview with TV Line. When asked if the couple will finally get their happiness, she said that in television, there is no drama in happy.  She added, "But there's also the exception to that rule, which is that sometimes happiness is as comforting as soup when you're sick. I'd really like to see Caroline and Stefan enjoy some of that comfort for as long as we can eek it out, before they have to stumble across another obstacle."

Then, she expressed her excitement for the upcoming season in a recent interview with TV Line. She revealed that the theme for season 8 will be very clear as soon as they release the episode titles. Although fan-favorite witch Kai, who was played by Chris Woods, is not returning, Plec is looking forward to having him back.

"Every day in the writer's room, we're pitching Kai comeback ideas," she says. "Maybe one day we'll hit on a good one!"

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 premieres on Oct. 21, Friday, at 8 p.m. on The CW.
