More than two months after its midseason finale, season 6 of "The Walking Dead" finally returns this Sunday with an all-new episode titled "No Way Out."

During the midseason finale, Alexandria had been invaded by Walkers with Rick and his group struggling to find a means of escape. With zombies abound, it seems that Rick, his family and his group will not make it out unscathed. A leaked international promo image for "The Walking Dead" has revealed that Carl will be losing an eye and if the episode follows the comic book storyline, viewers may be saying goodbye to Jessie as well.

The upcoming episode will reportedly do a good job of tying loose ends from the first half of the season, albeit in a gruesome and horrific way. It will also serve to introduce new plots and ideas that will take shape during the second half of the season.

The fate of Alexandria and its inhabitants will be quickly answered in the midseason premiere. The upcoming season will see the introduction of the Saviors and Negan.

Despite the zombie invasion on Alexandria, it has been confirmed that Rick and his group will be staying. Upon the show's return, there will be a time jump and their reasons for staying in Alexandria will be revealed.

Given that Alexandria has been built with its secure and fully functioning infrastructure, working electricity, solar panels and sustainable crops, it might make sense that the survivors have chosen to instead fortify the place instead of abandoning it.

"There are certain things that are the beginnings of a civilization, so it would be strange for us to look for somewhere else because I'm not sure it there would be anything as contained and secure and environmentally sound," actor Andrew Lincoln told Entertainment Weekly.

Lincoln also revealed that Rick will be affected by the events of episode nine. As the second half of the season unfolds, he learns a lot about how to be a leader and develops a new way of leading given how events will unfold.

For fans of "The Walking Dead" who can't wait until Sunday, AMC has released an exclusive look into the upcoming episode. The video shows the first four minutes of the mid-season premiere. However, to see the whole episode unfold, be sure to catch "No Way Out" airing on Feb. 14.

Season 6 of "The Walking Dead" airs every Sunday, 9 p.m. on AMC.
