'The Walking Dead' season 7 cast news, spoilers: Two new characters to be revealed

The second half of "The Walking Dead's" sixth season teased that there's a bigger and more dangerous world out there. Fans will definitely be seeing that world next season, along with new characters to boot.

"The Walking Dead" season 7 will reportedly introduce two new characters — Naomi and Jennie. According to TV Line, Naomi is "a grandmotherly type who, having lost so many loved ones, is now willing to do whatever it takes not to have to bury any more," while Jennie is a teen with a very sunny personality. She's said to be "kind, with a world-weary toughness."

The duo are oddly reminiscent of Carol (Melissa McBride) and Beth (Emily Kinney). While Carol is not a grandmother, she's undeniaby maternal and has done everything she could to protect those she loves. Perhaps Naomi will serve as a reminder to Carol that you sometimes have to do terrible things to ensure that you and your family will survive. As for Jennie, she could serve as a foil for both Carl (Chandler Riggs) and Enid (Katelyn Nacon), another teenager in this post-apocalyptic world.

The emergence of new characters in the "Walking Dead" world might be interesting, but fans are still more concerned in knowing who left it. The search for Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) victim still continues, with AMC going to extreme lengths to ensure that season 7's big reveal won't be spoiled. Aside from threatening legal action against those who post spoilers, the network has allegedly also shot several death scenes.

The Hollywood Reporter stated that each of the 11 characters lined up before Negan had filmed a death scene, with the showrunners and the episode director ultimately choosing which scene to use. For those who need reminding, Greg Nicotero and his team would have to pick among Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), Aaron (Ross Marquand), Carl (Chandler Riggs), Daryl (Norman Reedus), Eugene (Josh McDermitt), Glenn (Steven Yeun), Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Michonne (Danai Gurira), Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Rosita (Christian Serratos), and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green).

It's unlikely that Rick and Carl would be chosen, as Negan really wants to break Alexandria's leader. The women might be safe as well, since the Saviours' leader has a policy of not killing women and children. So that leaves the five men. Glenn was the one who got Lucilled in the comics' 100th episode, but whether Nicotero and creator Robert Kirkman would follow it remains to be seen.

Aside from filming 11 death scenes, the cast and crew have been filming scenes out of order. Some of the cast have also taken to wearing hoods and disguises whenever they're shuttled to the set to further confuse those looking for spoilers. So far, their strategies seem to be working. But there's still four months to go and anything can happen within that time.

"The Walking Dead" season 7 will return to AMC in October.
