'The Walking Dead' season 7 spoilers, plot: Andrew Lincoln might have slipped his character's fate

(Facebook / The Walking Dead)Actor Andrew Lincoln talks about his character in the upcoming "The Walking Dead" season 7.

Actor Andrew Lincoln's statement at the San Diego Comic-Con is believed to indicate that his character, Rick Grimes, made it through the season 6 finale. He shared that in the first episode of "The Walking Dead" season 7, Rick will feel powerless for the first time.

Viewers have been dying to know who among the characters was at the receiving end of Lucille during season 6 finale. Many hoped that the weekend's event will reveal the latest fatality, but all those who could possibly die were present during the panel.

However, when asked about his character, Lincoln said, "He's powerless for the first time since he woke up from coma in the pilot episode … Everything he's worked for, for two years, has been shattered in 24 hours."

Perhaps sensing what his statement has implied, he continued, "So he's not in a good space and I think if he makes it through the first episodes, then he's different. He'll be a different man."

Lincoln also shares the sentiment of the many viewers about a character dying, no matter who he or she could be. He said, "It a really s---- start to the season," but also added that the event is necessary as it will lead to "one of the greatest showdowns we've had on the show since Terminus."

He further teased that the viewers may find out that they have been deceived by who the real villains are. He said, "I think the blurring of lines between who's the hero who's the villain is part of the DNA of the show." A war between the Saviours, the Hilltop Colony, and the Kingdom will happen, he revealed.

Executive producer Robert Kirkman also took the opportunity to assure fans that the frustrating wait for the reveal will be worth it. He calls the first episode a fantastic premiere to a fantastic season.

"The Walking Dead" season 7 will premiere on Oct. 23 at 9 p.m. on AMC. Prior to the premiere, a season preview special will be aired on Aug. 14 at 10 p.m. and a series recap special on Oct. 16 at 9 p.m.
