'The Walking Dead' season 7 spoilers, news: Rick may share the blame for season 6 core character death

(Facebook/TheWalkingDeadAMC)Is Rick to blame for the season six kill?

In a few days, fans will finally discover which character suffered death in the hands of Negan, the new and psychopathic villain who will make Rick and his people suffer. But what do the bosses really think about this core character death?

Unfortunately, there's no turning back. The bosses can no longer revive the victim that Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) killed in season six. Viewers can immediately conclude that the death was all Negan's fault. However, executive producer Greg Nicotero thinks otherwise.

While Negan executed the death sentence, Nicotero says the root of the problem isn't even Negan or his amazing bat, Lucille. Speaking with Comicbook.com, Nicotero explained: "Listen, Rick Grimes thinks he's got a handle in things. He thinks he knows what's in store for him out there. He thinks he knows that he can take on anybody that comes in his way. The truth of the matter is he can't and he doesn't."

Over the previous installments of the hit zombie apocalypse drama, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) has displayed himself as a strong and powerful leader who can protect his people from any harm. Negan's entry has proven this perfect picture all wrong. Everyone is now in danger and Rick is deeply affected by the death of one of his friends.

It now appears that Rick has underestimated the outside world, and now his people are about to pay the consequences of his wrong decisions. Seeing one of his people bludgeoned to death is something that will surely stick with Rick all throughout "The Walking Dead" season seven and all throughout his life but how will he move forward?

Rick will have to step up his game after this encounter with Negan and he will have to submit for now and not be arrogant about being a survivor. Negan has the power to take out another core character just like that, especially if Rick makes a wrong move or offends the enemy in any way.

Whether Rick likes it or not, he will have to swallow his pride for his people. Will he be able to do it or will he make yet another mistake that will cost another life?
