The epic fantasy book series written by George R.R. Martin titled "A Song of Ice and Fire" became one of the top selling novels and even has a television adaptation titled "Game of Thrones," which is also a huge hit. Usually, an adaptation of a novel comes after the book is published. But now that "Game of Thrones" is ready for the release of its sixth season, it seems like the reverse will happen because the author of the original novel, Martin, is delaying the release of his sixth book for the series titled "The Winds of Winter."

In a previous report, it has been said Martin has given a deadline for himself to finish the book before "Game of Thrones" season 6 airs on TV. Due to some factors reported, he might not meet his own deadline for publishing and the release will probably land somewhere in the middle of season 6.

But according to several new reports that surfaced, the sixth book of Martin's series will see a long delay and might be released in 2017. The author did explain his side to all his followers and fans about the issue. In his own personal blog, he said, "You're disappointed, and you're not alone. My editors and publishers are disappointed, HBO is disappointed, my agents and foreign publishers and translators are disappointed... but no one could possibly be more disappointed than me."

Martin, clearly a successful author, is known to be a very meticulous writer. This justifies the long gaps before publishing another book for his novel series because he often does a lot of rewriting and sometimes, he reconstructs the storyline to make it even better.

But judging by his successful streak so far, it will all be worth the wait, especially since Martin has assured the fans that "The Winds of Winter" will have a great twist and will drive the readers crazy.
