Over five years later after the fifth book in his "A Song of Ice and Fire" series was published, George R.R. Martin is not yet ready with "The Winds of Winter," and apparently, fans aren't impressed at all.

Though some fans have long been disappointed over the author's slow pace in writing, new reports suggest that a number of readers who have been wanting to get the book in their hands are now even more unimpressed due to Martin's alleged focus on public appearances.

According to the rumors, avid readers of his novels believe that Martin should just focus on completing "The Winds of Winter" instead of attending all the big conferences he's being invited to.

On the other hand, some fans are trying to stretch their patience for the book's release. A number of experts have said that "The Winds of Winter" may be the longest installment in the series yet, which could be the reason why Martin cannot produce the entire novel as of the moment.

The aging author has said in previous interviews that he himself is disappointed over the novel's delay. Nevertheless, he clarified that he has actually cleared his schedule for 2016 and has declined a lot of big invites just so he can pay attention to the much-awaited installment of "ASOIF."

However, it seems that Martin is busy with some of the biggest conferences since he recently attended the Balticon 2016, wherein he emerged with a bug that infected not just him but some of his assistants who went along with him. As expected, the acclaimed writer had to take some time off from writing so he could recover.

For now, only time will tell if Martin will be able to unveil all the chapters of "The Winds of Winter" before 2016 ends, but some are losing hope for a launch this year. Most are now looking forward to a 2017 launch if all goes well with the writing and publishing process.

It is worth noting though that Martin's reps, and the author himself, still cannot provide an exact date or a specific year of release for the sixth book in his "ASOIF" series.
