'Winds of Winter' release date, news, rumors: George R.R. Martin too distracted to finish the novel

(Facebook/George RR Martin)George R.R. Martin is said to be too distracted to finish "The Winds of Winter."

After years of anticipation, it is suspected that George R.R. Martin isn't done scribing the highly anticipated sixth book in his "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, "The Winds of Winter," as he may be distracted by other things once again.

According to reports, Martin is once again active on his online live journal as he has come up with different posts in reference to various topics. While it's true that he posted something related to HBO's "Game of Thrones," of which the story is based on the novels he wrote, he also came up with posts that are in no way related to the series.

Martin expressed his happiness over "Game of Thrones'" achievement at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, wherein the show won nine trophies, such as awards for casting, prosthetic and non-prosthetic makeup, production design and costume, sound mixing, editing, stunt coordination, and special visual effects.

"With these nine wins, 'GAME OF THRONES' has now taken home more Emmy Awards than any other drama in the entire history of television. That is a tribute to HBO, which truly has no rivals when it comes to production quality, and to David Benioff and Dan Weiss and the outrageously talented cast and crew they assembled to bring the Seven Kingdoms and their people to life. I have been thrilled to be a part of this," Martin wrote on his live journal.

While it's totally understandable for Martin to come up with posts related to "Game of Thrones," as he is also an executive producer of the show apart from the fact that the series was based on his works, many have expressed their worry that he might be distracted once more as he also talked about NFL and U.S. immigrants. With this, fans now believe that the writer's focus is scattered once more, and he can't concentrate on finishing his already long-overdue "The Winds of Winter."

However, iDigital Times opines that it has now become normal for Martin to finish a book in more than half a decade. While it's true that the first three books in the series were finished quickly, things are rather different now because of his age, the online publication suggests. Nonetheless, iDigital Times believes that the release of "The Winds of Winter" is imminent, even if it doesn't get released this year, as the other books in the series of "A Song of Fire and Ice" also experienced delays in the past.
