'Thor: Ragnarok' and 'Captain Marvel' news: filming of the two movies to take place in Australia

The two Marvel Cinematic Universe phase 3 movies, "Thor: Ragnarok" and "Captain Marvel," may have already found its potential filming location and it might be the same country where filming for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" took place.

According to the report by Cinemablend, one anonymous source who claims to be working on the recently finished fifth "Pirates of the Caribbean" film, had shared that Disney is considering Australia as the location where they will shoot the two movies, "Thor: Ragnarok" and "Captain Marvel."

"It was a great experience for the studio who were able to familiarise themselves with the set-up at Village Roadshow (studios) and the crews here," the anonymous source told Yahoo. "They were also able to work across a lot of different locations which has saved them scouting for the Marvel movie," the source added.

As for the filming, "Thor: Ragnarok" is not due to start shooting until June of 2016 and as stated on Screenrant, more details and news including who will direct the movie and any additional cast members, will probably emerge by the end of the year.

For "Captain Marvel," on the other hand, the debut movie of Carol Danvers won't start filming until summer of 2017. And since this film might shoot in Australia, a lot of fans might probably push for the possibility of Yvonne Strahovski ("Chuck") to be cast as "Captain Marvel" in the movie of the same title.

Nothing has been written in stone and there is still no concrete evidence to back up this claim. Fans are therefore advised to take the news with a grain of salt for now and wait for Marvel's official announcement.

"Thor: Ragnarok" is scheduled to premiere on Nov. 3, 2017, while "Captain Marvel" is set to be released in cinemas a year after, on Nov. 2, 2018.
