NBC has yet to announce the season 2 renewal of its recent time travel drama series, "Timeless." The TV series ended its first season last Monday after a 16-episode run. However, there is still no news on whether or not avid viewers of the show will still get to see their favorite characters in the next few months.

According to TV Line, the finale episode of the TV series registered 3.3 million viewers on Monday, Feb. 20. The finale also got a 0.9 rating that is at least 10 percent higher than its premiere episode. Prior to its freshman season finale, "Timeless" experienced a three-week high in the ratings game.

Additionally, Deadline reported that "Timeless" had a pretty average performance in terms of ratings when compared to other TV shows. The show reportedly gathered a 2.2 Live 7 rating among adults with ages ranging from 18 to 49.

"We really like it," NBC Entertainment president Jenifer Salke told the same source at TCA last month. "I didn't think it was going to be like 'This Is Us,' but I am a little surprised that it didn't settle in at a higher number," she added.

The series is considered a "bubble show" by some critics, which means it may have appeared for a season, but there is no telling whether it will return. Co-creator and co-executive producer Eric Kripke has been rallying fans on Twitter to spread the word as to how good the series was. Kripke used #TimeTeam and #RenewTimeless in pushing for a possible season 2.

"Timeless" revolves around the story of three unsuspecting heroes made up of a scientist, soldier, and history professor, who are attempting to stop a mysterious criminal from wrecking havoc in the present time by changing past events using a highly incredible time machine. The three use the time machine's prototype to go back to crucial events in the past with the hopes of stopping their ultimate enemy from carrying out his evil plans. In the process of doing so, the trio has to make sure not to affect the course of history as well.

Cast members of "Timeless" include Abigail Spencer as Lucy Preston, Matt Lanter as Wyatt Logan, Goran Visnjic as Garcia Flynn, and Malcolm Barrett as Rufus Carlin to name a few. "Supernatural's" Misha Collins guest starred in one of the show's episodes. Kripke is also the creator of the famous TV series, "Supernatural."
