Titanfall 2 news, updates: Gamers applaud 88 MB day-one patch by Respawn

(Facebook/RespawnEntertainment)Respawn Entertainment made a record 88 MB day-one patch for "Titanfall 2."

Some gamers breathed a sigh of relief when Respawn Entertainment recently announced that the first day's patch of the new "Titanfall 2" would only take 88 MB. In total, the game has about 45 GB install size.

For the past years, day-one patches of AAA games have been known to reach several gigabytes. Just like what happened with "Halo 5" and "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3," many gamers have been expecting that "Titanfall 2" would follow the same track.

Patches are done to let the development teams fix some problems before the actual launch date. With "Halo 5," an extra 9 GB was needed, whereas users of last generation consoles had to free 8 GB for "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3." Respawn CEO Vince Zampella enjoyed teasing many when he announced the 88 MB day-one patch on his Twitter account.

As per Digital Spy, "Titanfall 2" is a perfect game for the holiday season, as it can go head-to-head with the popular ones like "Battlefield 1" and "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare." The game is said to be "a masterful sequel" where gamers will enjoy "a smooth flowing multiplayer" and "a much-improved campaign." It can even be enjoyed via the PlayStation 4 Pro, but the game will reportedly not run in 4K.

Meanwhile, Respawn boasted that the game would not be the usual first-person shooter, listing 10 reasons why it was so much more than that.

PlayStation Lifestyle reports that the first reason on the list is that "Titanfall 2" will let the players experience and explore The Frontier as Jack Cooper, "a militia rifleman" who dreams of becoming a pilot. While beached at the enemy's camp, he will meet a Vanguard-class titan called BT-7274. The veteran titan will soon spark an unusual friendship with the human. The two will rely on each other to survive, using their combined skills to remain alive amidst overwhelming odds.
