'Tokyo Ghoul: re' Chapter 100 speculations: Is a showdown between Nimura and Kaneki happening?

(Tumblr/Tokyo Ghoul)"Tokyo Ghoul: re" has started a new story arc after Kaneki has successfully defeated Arima.

The previous chapter of "Tokyo Ghoul: re" was rather slow in pacing as it featured a time jump sharing the life of Kaneki and his friends after the trouble they faced in going up against Arima. However, the tension started to build up in the last part, which many believe will lead to a fight between Kaneki and Nimura.

A month after the events in Chapter 98, Chapter 99 opened with a one-month time jump that shows Kaneki finding a peaceful stride in his everyday life. He began having coffee and meeting with his friends Touka, Mr. Yomo, Koma, Irimi, and Nishio.

It can be recalled that many of the ghouls started to believe in his capacity as the "One Eyed King" because of his victory over Arima. However, when he revealed his plans of wanting to live harmoniously with humans, not all the ghouls are in agreement with his plans.

Kaneki is an idealistic half-ghoul and half-human, but not everyone shares his enthusiasm in building a world where both species could live in peace. The meeting between ghouls happened at Tsukiyama's secret facility, which included previous Aogiri Tree members Ayato Kirishima, the White Suits Miza, and Kurona.

As expected, the meeting slowly turned into an argument, which started when Naki recalled how Kaneki killed Yamori. Miza then started to question his plans now that he is considered the King.

The next chapter is expected to see new alliances formed as more and more ghouls will either agree or not with Kaneki's plans. The defeat of Arima is also a sign that a new kind of enemy will be introduced in the succeeding chapters.

Nimura is expected to challenge Kaneki's authority and, in the process, some ghouls will turn to his side. A new organization led by Furuta is said to have emerged.
