(Facebook / Tokyo Ghoul)Is a film adaptation delaying "Tokyo Ghoul" season three?

Following the tragic events that wrapped up the second season of "Tokyo Ghoul," rumors are now circulating around the alleged main reason why the third season is still not in sight.

Recent reports suggest that the purported film adaptation is keeping the development team from coming up with the highly anticipated installment, which has been delayed for over a year.

Rumor has it that the upcoming film adaptation, if it were real, would go deeper into the series' roots, which will most likely unveil the back stories of the characters and how they all started. On the other hand, the studio working on both the anime version and the film has not offered any comments on the matter.

There is no clear cloud for the fate of the hit anime series for now but it is widely speculated that "Tokyo Ghoul" season three will finally be ready for premiere sometime 2017. The reports have no official confirmation though since Funimation remains mum about all the news popping up regarding the upcoming installment and also the rumored film adaptation.

Meanwhile, there are numerous reports pointing to major character Ken Kaneki returning for the third season as the One-Eyed King. If this happens, the storylines in "Tokyo Ghoul:re" will most likely be depicted.

"Tokyo Ghoul:re" is believed to be a sequel which was initially created for the original "Tokyo Ghoul" series, and it tells the story of the aftermath of a certain raid that took place in a small cafe called Anteiku.

The 86th chapter of the said manga sequel sees Ken transforming into the One-Eyed King, as he was given the throne by Eto Yoshimura. In the said chapter, he also called himself the One-Eyed King, giving fans the idea that this particular plot will be adapted for "Tokyo Ghoul" season three.

The reports are merely speculations for now as there is no official word coming from Funimation. Author Sui Ishida also remains tight-lipped about all the reports so it is best to stay put and wait for further announcements from the team.
