In an article posted in a satire news website, a headline read "Michael Bay on Transformers 5: Optimus Dies, Rodimus Rules." Some fans took the article seriously and posted many rants on Twitter.

NationalReport.net is a satire news website, and it posts random fake news in many categories. In its Entertainment section, it posted an article that says famed Hollywood director, Michael Bay, sat down in an interview for them, revealing details about his plans on the next Transformers film. Unfortunately, fans of the movie did not notice right away that National Report makes up all its news, and the announcement of Optimus Prime's death, allegedly told by Bay, angered fans all over the world.

The article says that the lead robot in all past Transformers films will bid goodbye to earth, and is to be replaced by Rodimus Prime. A fake interview snippet confirming the fake detail was even released by the said website.

"Optimus Prime has served his time. He is old news. He dies heroically in battle, but it is time for leadership to be passed on to a new generation. We will be introducing a new Autobot known as Hot Rod. He is young and hip and sometimes doesn't think things through, just like Bumblebee. But he will have to learn how to lead what remains of the Autobots against Galvatron and his army of Decepticons," wrote the website, which claimed that Michael Bay said it.

Some fans reacted right away on Twitter, cursing the director for making such a wild decision for the Transformers franchise.

"WHAT THE?!!! Whoa!!! Bay's back... Prime's dead??? Bit spoiler happy there Michael Bay!" wrote one Twitter user, @BitikoferAustin.

"I hate to hear the Prime's death, but i hate more that Bay is returning to Transformers,i want Spielberg or Joe Johnston," wrote another fan, @ReynolDarkPrime.
