'True Detective' Season 2 premiere cast: Colin Farrell confirms appearance, reveals season secrets

After a gripping first season, 'True Detective' has established itself as a series to watch out for in the coming years. Its unique way of storytelling, multiple timelines and underlying tones make it one of the mist interesting and thrilling shows produced by network giant, HBO.

For the True Detective Season 2 cast, creator Nic Pizzolatto revealed that Season 1's leads Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, and director Cary Fukunaga won't be returning for the completely different Season 2, but one name that will play a lead has already been released.

Actor Colin Farrell has confirmed his lead role in the next season, playing one of the four lead characters for the new storyline happening in California.

"I'm doing the second series. I'm so excited," Farrell told in an interview with Irish Sunday World.

Now that Farrell has confirmed his role, names for the three remaining leads are still in question. Stars that have been rumored to be included in the next season are Taylor Kitsch, Vince Vaugh, Brit Marling, Elisabeth Moss, and Rachel McAdams.

"I know it will be eight episodes and take around for our five months to shoot," Farrell told Sunday World.

"I know very little about it, but we're shooting it in the environs of Los Angeles, which is great. It means I get to stay home and see the kids. These are early days and all the powers that be are working out locations and schedules and trying to lock down the cast," Farrell told Sunday World.
