The production of HBO's 'True Detective' season 2 premiere has yet to begin, though details of its California setting and two male lead cast members have been revealed. While Vince Vaughn remains mum about his role in the series, Colin Farrell spoke about the script and what he thinks about the episodes.

Speaking with the Chicago Tribune during his promotional tour for his film, 'Miss Julie,' at the Chicago Film Festival, the Irish actor mentioned that what Nic Pizzolatto wrote for the episodes is "strong" and "phenomenal."

"I've only read half of the eight episodes. It's phenomenal writing, strong writing. It's all there on the page," said Farrell to Chicago Tribune.

Farrell added that he hopes to spend more time studying the scripts to further understand the depth of his character.

"Nic Pizzolatto has done an incredible job creating this new world that is a separate time and separate place and has a completely new array of characters than the first season," the actor continued.

When asked if he has already spoken to his co-star, Vince Vaughn, Farrell says he plans to allot time to discuss their roles and how they can work efficiently side-by-side.

"I'll go to see him hopefully this week," said the actor.

Vaughn was reportedly spotted in Chicago at the film festival as well.

"Sit down for lunch or coffee or something," Farrell added.
