'True Detective' season 3 renewal, air date, plot rumors update: HBO still hopeful for new season

(Facebook/TrueDetective)HBO exec Casey Bloys says the series is not dead.

Since it has been a while after the release of "True Detective" season 2, fans are still waiting for more news regarding a new installment.

Although season 2 received some criticism on its narrative, audiences continue hoping for a new set of episodes. There was a lot of uproar when the second season came out, as some believed that the script was rushed, causing a messy storyline.

Despite this, there is still a lot of anticipation for its return. Though there has yet to be any official announcement regarding the matter, there are a number of speculations on what the upcoming season could present. According to reports, HBO is still looking forward to developing a third season for the series.

It was reported that the programming head of HBO, Casey Bloys, teased the return of "True Detective." He also stated that the writer of the show, Nic Pizzolatto, is set to continue the story for the upcoming season of the series.

However, there are also some reports indicating that Pizzolatto may be too busy with his current projects. It was revealed that he is working with Robert Downey Jr. at the moment, which created speculations that he will not return as the screenwriter of "True Detective."

Aside from that, the director of the previous seasons will not be returning as well. Cary Fukunaga stated that he was only supposed to take part in the first season of the series. According to The Times of India, he said: "I feel like I have done the noir. There is no noir currently in my slate so if I ever get that itch again, may be. But not for now."

Because of this, there is still a lot of skepticism on whether the show will return to the small screens. Fans will have to wait for more news on "True Detective" season 3.
