'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End' news: 'Crash Bandicoot' still under Activision, no reboot plans

(Uncharted 4 official website)"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" was released to the PlayStation 4 on May 10.

Gamers that have played "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" are familiar with the Easter egg of a playable "Crash Bandicoot" game seen in the game. This cameo has since then left gamers wondering if this is a sign of an upcoming "Crash Bandicoot" reboot for the PlayStation 4.

Some may be disappointed because Sony only gave a vague answer and did not mention any specific details if indeed the game or a reboot is in the works. The silver lining here, however, is that the company is now perfectly aware of the demand.

In an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine UK, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) CEO Jim Ryan expressed his awareness on the clamor made by the fans regarding "Crash Bandicoot."

"Um... We're certainly aware of the considerable affection — even reverence — in which the mighty Crash is held. But nothing to update at this stage in that area."

Hopefully, more information and substantive answers are given to fans because this explanation may not sit well with them. This is also the reason why some fans have gone as far as checking if Activision still has the rights to "Crash Bandicoot." This has been confirmed by a Twitter post coming from a fan asking Adam Boyes, vice president of Publisher and Developer Relations at PlayStation, if it is true. His response is a resounding yes.

This just means Sony may be having a hard time pushing for a reboot of the game because of the negotiations it has to go through with Activision. The last statement given by Activision regarding this matter was back in 2013 where it mentioned that it will look for ways to bring back this series, and since there hasn't been any more update, it looks like gamers and fans will remain in the dark and everything at this point is open for speculations.

More "Crash Bandicoot" reboot news, update, and potential release date should arrive soon.
