The dramatic opening scene of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was recreated into a live action short film entitled Uncharted: Ambushed by a group of Scandinavian filmmakers.

"Uncharted – Ambushed is non-profit fan film and is not endorsed by or affiliated with Sony or Naughty Dog. It is intended for entertainment purposes only," the video's intro says.

The recreation of the game's intro can pass for Hollywood standards of cinematography and musical scoring.

"We worked very hard on this and we are very proud of the result, and we hope fellow Uncharted fans will like as much as we did making it," filmmaker Martin Sofiedal says.

In fact, Kotaku even thinks that the guys behind this should create a full-length Uncharted movie.

The impressive fan film also caught the eyes of top Naughty Dog developer Neil Druckmann.

Posted via YouTube, Uncharted: Ambushed now has close to 150K views.

Released in 2007 for PS3, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune received a good response from the gaming community for its high production value and technical prowess.

For comparison purposes, here is the original opening cutscene of the video game.

Meanwhile, a new installment of the franchise, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is scheduled for commercial launch sometime in 2015 for PS4.

The blockbuster series is trying to regain its stance after starting to wobble on its solid foundation following the release of Uncharted 3, which according to reviews highlighted some sort of inferiority complex and was too gloomy.
