In what was supposed to be an all-Apple league event, Super Evil Megacorp - in keeping with its name - stole the show with the unveiling of a new promising multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) for iOS devices that come out in October.

"We will begin the global rollout of Vainglory, our MOBA perfected for touch, on Apple's App Store in October this year," the official Super Evil Megacorp blog said.

"We will start with a big update for our early player base in Southeast Asia and work our way across the globe."

Co-founder Tommy Krul became an instant international meme figure with his fashion statement during the iPhone 6 launch, but what is more interesting than his scarf is Vainglory, the MOBA that could be the DOTA 2 of mobile gaming.

"We really only wanted to go down this road if we felt like the experience was going to be faithful to the core community, and for what the expectations of a real, honest-to-goodness core game would be like," co-founder Stephan Sherman said as he and Krul sat down with The Guardian after the event.

Super Evil Megacorp must have done something outstanding to convince Tim Cook to give them a special spot during the Sept. 9 media press conference.

The US-based startup did not disappoint.

They also clarified that they are not trying to compete with PC dynasties such as DOTA 2 and League of Legends.

The DNA of Vainglory is hardcore team game, in which heroes are built as they take down opponents and farm within levels.

This legitimate MOBA has gotten gaming pundits excited and even got the support of MOBAFire.

"We've been waiting for a game like Vainglory to come along on touch screens. It's not just the best touch MOBA out there; it's a completely legit core game in its own right. Once you play it, you'll understand why we got excited about it," according to M. Scott Reinders of MOBAFire.

Vainglory will have a full-scale and dedicated community presence care-of MOBAFire – a first and only touch-screen game to be given that honor.
