"We are so lucky and happy to have Missy join the Van Helsing team this season," showrunner Neil LaBute shared. "The series thrives on female energy & power and we're getting two barrels full with Missy's talents. I can't wait to see her jump into battle alongside Kelly Overton and the rest of the cast with all we have planned for them in season two."

Deadline has learned that the "Rookie Blue" actress will be portraying a woman called Scarlett Harker. As of now, little is known about the character, but Peregrym's Harker is expected to portray a significant role this season. The publication describes her as "a woman with a mysterious past." More importantly, she could be the savior of this post-apocalyptic world.

For the uninitiated, "Van Helsing" is set in a post-apocalyptic world where vampires have reigned over human kind. Humanity's dire need of a savior spawns Van Helsing, a savior, a warrior, who comes from a long line of vampire slayers. Viewers can expect Kelly Overton to reprise her role as the titular character in the second installment of the series.

"Van Helsing" season 2 is still in production. The cast and crew of the show are still in Vancouver, Canada filming for the next installment. The show will still be produced by Nomadic Pictures, under the supervision of executive producers Chad Oakes, Mike Frislev, Evan Tyler, Dave Brown, Zadoc Angell, and Daniel March. Meanwhile, the worldwide distribution of the series will still be handled by Dynamic Televsion.

"Van Helsing" season 2 has yet to receive a release date, but the show is expected to return this fall on Netflix.

More updates should roll out soon.
