Apple, Inc., has officially re-entered the smartphone holiday competition with the bigger and thinner iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, which were revealed on Sept. 9 at an exclusive press event in Cupertino, Calif.

According to Apple's official iPhone 6 page"iPhone 6 isn't simply bigger — it's better in every way. Larger, yet dramatically thinner. More powerful, but remarkably power efficient. With a smooth metal surface that seamlessly meets the new Retina HD display. It's one continuous form where hardware and software function in perfect unison, creating a new generation of iPhone that's better by any measure."

Both iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be available in three colors: gold, silver and gray.

That Apple is going for lighter colors on the latest iPhone lineup is quite surprising, considering that black is one of the most popular colors in consumer electronics.

However, the brighter tones can bring out the "unique" and "distinct" element of the iPhone 6, especially as major competitors went for darker shades.

The gold colored iPhone is expected to become the bestselling version due to the high quality and "elite" aura it connotes. The particularly refined gold of the iPhone 6 can really appeal buyers.

The silver and gray models however, can conceal scratches and chips. Those who easily "wear and tear" phones are definitely recommended to pick from those two colors.

But hues might be the least of Apple fans' problems at the moment, as reports noted that iPhone 6 Plus is already sold out and will not ship until around two weeks after its official launch.

A record number of orders for the model arrived and strained the available supply of the company Trudy Muller said.

The latest iPhones will be up for grabs at Apple retail stores at 8:00 a.m. on Sept. 19.
