'WWE 2K16' hands-on review: New and improved video game features make it look and feel more like real-life professional wrestling

"WWE 2K16" is still a long way off from hitting the shelves but some gaming websites already had their hands on the game for review. If gamers are still a bit on the fence about getting this game when it ships, then this particular review just might help them make the final decision.

IGN spent some time with the latest iteration of Yuke's and Visual Concepts' "WWE 2K" series. And despite the change in in-game reversals, they think "WWE 2K16" may have made video game professional wrestling a whole lot better for fans.

The upcoming "WWE 2K16" has changed the game's reversal system. Players will now only have a specific stock of reversals at any given time, ranging from three to four. Every time a reversal is done, a stock is removed and can only be fully recovered once regeneration is done.

This specific change is what might make the seventh "WWE 2K" game the best one yet. Though professional wrestling is nearly impossible to be 100 percent emulated in video games, much like any other sports, the new reversal system is the closest thing for now, that video gamers can have. Just like real professional wrestling, "WWE 2K16" will encourage video gamers to wrestle smarter rather than harder. Wrestling, after all, is not all brawn. In fact, it is brawn with a lot of strategic thinking.

Putting a limit to reversals that do not regenerate too fast means players can no longer spam and abuse this move. They might choose to just counter a mistake with a better and smarter move than to simply use up one stock. As IGN noted, it makes the video game match flow look much more similar to a live action one.

The new reversal system plus the retention of "managed" stamina resource make for a "WWE" title that is more similarly paced and told like the real-life "WWE." Add to that, the more improved submissions system and players make the sports game more similar to its real-life counterpart than any other video game in "WWE 2K" history.

"WWE 2K16" will be available for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One this Oct. 27.
