Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 release date, specs leaked: Xiaomi to unveil phablet this week?

(Reuters/Bobby Yip)Xiaomi Redmi Note 3's successor, the Redmi Note 4, is said to launch this week.

Xiaomi is said to introduce a new iteration of the Redmi line this week. The Chinese technology company is reportedly holding a launch event on Aug. 25 in Beijing where it is believed that the new Redmi Note 4 will make its debut.

According to Chinese site Weibo (via Times News), Xiaomi will unveil the Redmi Note 4, which has previously received an approval from the country's regulatory body, TENAA. An image of the device's box has also been leaked and it appears to confirm some of the rumored specs of the Redmi Note 4.

For instance, the device is confirmed to have a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 chipset, the performance of which is comparable to Snapdragon 820. On board is a 4,100-mAh battery unit to power a device that could come in two variants – one with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB storage capacity, and another with 3 GB of RAM coupled with 64 GB of storage.

Note 4 is also expected to have a 5.5-inch Full HD display. Also spotted listed on the box are the camera specs - a 13-megapixel main or rear camera paired with a 5-megapixel snapper at the front.

The overall design of the device is also said to be much like the Redmi Note 3, according to Android Pit. Previous leaked photos from Weibo also hint that the Note 4 has a fingerprint sensor located just below the main camera. What's different this time for the device is the location of its camera flash, which is found on the left side of the sensor instead of under it. The phablet is also expected to have a preinstalled Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

There are no details when it comes to the price of the Note 4, but the device is expected to be affordable. According to speculation, the 16 GB variant will cost $150 and the 64 GB will be priced at $180.
