'Young Justice' season 3 news, release date: DC animated series renewed; is Wally alive?

(Facebook/YoungJusticeDC)"Young Justice" will be back for a season 3.

"Young Justice" fans should rejoice as the DC animated series has been officially picked up for a third season. However, it should be noted that a network has yet to be signed.

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. Animation has revealed that production for season 3 has already started. And although there has been talk that the third season would air on Netflix, nothing has been set in stone yet.

It can be recalled that the original series aired on Cartoon Network. It ran for two seasons before being canceled. The animated series, however, gained a cult following and the first two seasons can be found on Netflix right now. However, it remains to be seen if the streaming giant will carry the third season as well.

"Young Justice" has been plagued with rumors of a third season for quite some time now. Creators Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman made some comments that hinted at the show's revival, and now the rumors have been proven true. Vietti and Weisman are set to return for the third season.

As for the plot of season 3, confirmations have yet to be made. It is unknown if the series will pick up from where it left off in the season 2 finale or if there will be some changes. However, fans can expect at least the same level of action from the first two seasons, with a lot of baddies posing as threats and challenges for the team of young superheroes.

It also remains to be seen whether all of the characters will be back for the third season. Each character has contributed a lot to the story arc of the first two, so fans are hoping that season 3 will be no different.

One particular fan-favorite, though, is Wally West as Kid Flash. Fans can remember that the season 2 finale saw him running alongside the Flash and Impulse, in order to save the world, but it ultimately cost him his life. This was a sad moment for everyone, but fans are hoping that season 3 will bring the character back alive since it is not unusual for a member of the Flash family to return from their supposed death run.

No premiere date for "Young Justice" season 3 has been set.
