Chinese smartphone manufacturers have been breathing down the necks of established companies like Samsung and Apple lately, and ZTE's latest offering is expected to add more pressure. This latest smartphone was recently revealed as the Axon 7 flagship and it came with a mid-range price tag and top notch hardware.

Engadget, commenting on the launch of the Axon 7 flagship, states that it could very well turn out to be the device that allows the company to break into the American market. It goes on to describe the Axon 7 as a better device compared to last year's offering, the Axon, which had a "chunky" design. Along with its streamlined look, the new Axon 7 has several new features, like a solid 2K display which is going to appeal to users in the United States.

However, where the device is head and shoulders above pricey flagships from Samsung and Apple is in its price tag, which at $450 is similar to last year's device. For this price, users get a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a pixel density of 538 pixels per inch which will surely thrill those who are enraptured with the clarity of Samsung's flagships. Powering the ZTE Axon 7 is the latest Snapdragon 820 chipset from Qualcomm which is coupled with quad-core CPU and an Adreno 530 GPU. This means that users are not going to have any complaints when it comes to performance.

As for RAM, users can choose from a 4 GB version which has 64 GB onboard storage, or a 128 GB version with a huge 6 GB RAM. For those concerned about the battery life they can expect from the Axon 7, the device is equipped with Quick-charge 3.0 and this will ensure that the 3,140 mAh battery is topped up quickly. There is also a microSD slot onboard the device which supports upto 128 GB of external storage. The device has a 20-megapixel camera with OIS.
